Delete your account

You can delete your account yourself, from Settings, on any device. It takes effect immediately and cannot be undone.

Delete it yourself

  • Android: Me tab → ⚙ Settings → Delete account → confirm.
  • iPhone: Me tab → ⚙ Settings → Delete account → confirm.
  • Web: sign in, open Settings, and use Delete account at the bottom of the page.

You will be asked to confirm once. After that you are signed out and the account is gone.

What is deleted

  • Your profile and sign-in details (email and password).
  • Your posts, and the photos and videos in them.
  • Your comments, likes and poll votes.
  • Your friendships, blocks, and any invites you created.
  • Your notifications and push-notification tokens.
  • Your membership of message threads, and your reactions to messages.
  • Memorial memories you wrote.
  • Your family memberships.
  • Your avatar and every file you uploaded with a post.

What is kept

  • Messages you sent. They stay in other people's conversations, shown as from a deleted account, so the other side keeps a readable conversation. Voice notes you sent stay for the same reason.
  • Group conversations you started keep existing for their other members.
  • Your place in the family tree. A family tree is shared heritage, so the person stays in it — but is no longer linked to you, and can be claimed again by a future account.
  • Things other people posted that include you — their photos, their comments, their memories — belong to them and stay.

The server keeps encrypted nightly backups for 30 days, so deleted data can persist in a backup for up to that long before ageing out.

If you can't sign in

Email famigram@donnydon.com from the address on the account and say which account you want deleted. It is deleted the same way, with the same result. A parent or guardian can ask for a child's account to be deleted at the same address.
